Māori Art

 Māori Art and Fried Bread

To celebrate Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori, for Fun Friday, Miss Cabral and Miss Waho did a Māori Art and Fried Bread activity.  Penny had to help Miss Waho out to make the fried bread throughout the day because she's got the skills.
Here are a few photos from the afternoon:

Have you tried fried bread before?  If you haven't, you should.

 Fun Times For Fun Friday

For week 4, Mrs Ngaata and Miss Waho were continuing with some creativity from Cook Islands Language Week.  Students loved making Cook Island ei so we ran this option for Fun Friday again.

Cook Islands Fun Friday

 Cook Islands Language Week

To celebrate Cook Islands Language Week,  two of our Fun Friday options were based on Cook Islands tivaevae and ei.  Miss Waho used paper and stencils to create patterns similar t those used in tivaevae and Mrs Ngaata used straws and crepe paper to create ei.

We enjoyed these activities so much that we are going to have them as a Fun Friday option again.

Fun Friday

Things With Beads

One of the Fun Friday activities we had running in term one was Things with Beads.  We had a selection of beads and children were able to make bracelets or necklaces.  We had even had some children who chose to make gifts for other people.

We are hoping to buy some more beads and do this activity again because we were able to create some lovely pieces.

Chalk Pastel Fun

Our First Fun Friday for 2020

As part of our values programme, we have Fun Friday each week.  Students earn Fish! tickets throughout the week by showing our values of Be There, Make Someone's Day, Play and Choose Your Attitude.
This week, we had our first afternoon of fun activities.
Some students chose to do Chalk Pastel Art with Miss Waho.  Here are some photos of their creations.

We also shared our first pieces of work on our Wall of Frame.

Bring Your Own Device

Fun Friday Term Two

To acknowledge meeting of expectations and to put our value of Play in action, we have a thirty minute slot each week where students select a fun activity from a range of options.  It is a great time to mingle with other students and teachers and to do something fun.
This week Miss Waho's option was BYOD which meant children could bring their own devices and choose school appropriate online activities.

Next week we have another selection of activities with Miss Waho taking hockey for juniors.

Cook Island Art

Cook Island Tivaevae Art

To celebrate and acknowledge Cook Island Language Week, we did some Cook Island art for a Fun Friday activity.  We used stencils and folded paper to make these beautiful pieces and are looking forward to having them on display in our learning space.
