The Learning Pit

Our Value This Week
This week our value is Learn From Mistakes. We created a pit to show what makes us feel like we are in the learning pit and what helps us to get out of the pit.  Here is the start of one we did together.  Individual students have created and posted their own.

My next step is to feel ok when I make mistakes or learning is hard.

Hub Waiata

Te Ara Takitini

This week we had our first session back with Kapa Haka.  We decided to have Matua Anton, our Kapa Haka tutor, working with each area of the school to learn and rehearse our class and hub waiata.
Te Ara Takitini got together and we talked about what the waiata means for us as a group of many working collaboratively together.
Here goes a video of where we are at with our waiata at the moment.

Writing MindMups

Being a Courteous Writer

Today we learned how to create a MindMup so we could identify and remember the things we need to do when writing so we are showing courtesy to our audience.  For many of us, creating a MindMup was a new experience.  This is the one we co-created.  Check out individual student blogs to see theirs.

Our next step is to use MindMup for organising our ideas in different subject areas.

We're Back

Lockdown Learning PMI

We are back.  Term Two has started back on our school site and we are ready for learning.  Today we did a PMI chart that helped us to reflect on things about the time in lockdown.  We looked at the positives, the negatives and the things we found interesting.
Students worked on their own version of this Google Drawing and posted it to their blogs.  Check out the individual blogs to see student thoughts.

Our Onsite Bubble

 Takitini Bubble's First Week Back

As the nation has moved into Alert Level Three, we have some students and staff back at school.  This week was about settling in and developing a programme that would benefit our small groups.
We have two adults in each bubble and in ours over in Takitini Hub, we have had three fantastic students this week.
We have put together a slide and will continue to add to this as we go.  To share this week's learning, Pholody Slideshow has been used to create a photo slide.

Check it out:

We are looking forward to a full week ahead and a few more students coming to join our bubble.

Our Value This Week

Listening to Others

This week our value is listening to others.  We watched a video clip about whole body listening.

In this clip, they sing about ten body parts that we use when we are listening.  Today, our bubble group of Tali, James and Janco, worked together to remember what these are.
We need to use our:
1) Ears- we listen.
2) Mouth- Keep quiet when someone is talking.
3) Feet- Keep your feet still.
4) Hands-Keep your hands still.
5) Eyes-Look at the person who is speaking.
6) Body- Face the person
7) Brain-T
hink about what the person is saying.
8) Heart-Care about what the person says.
9) Head- Nod when you understand.

Our next step is to: We could focus on being good listening.
