Terrific Top Team

Last week we had a great time doing Top Team. We had a range of activities and we completed these in teams.  Activities were things like hoop toss, memory and house of cards.

Kia Ora Whakamanawa 2019

Where did those holidays get to?  Today we had our first day back in Te Rōpū Whakamanawa.  We have 23 Year 6 students and 4 Year 5s in our class this year.  We are working on learning about our standards and expectations, our names and history, our class mates and whānau and forming relationships within the school.

Our first day back was a good one and it is great to be back.

The Time Has Come

Today we are reflecting on our year and looking forward to where our new pathways take us.

My highlights~ I really enjoyed being introduced to James Russell and then being able to read all of his books in class.

My lowlights~ Something I didn't enjoy that much was how chrome books were not used for learning all the time which made some children become dishonest because they would hide the fact that they were on something they shouldn't be, like games.

My headlights~ Next year I am looking forward doing less work from home and spending more time with my son.

Dollar Day Market

Whakamanawa Market Day

At the end of term three, we had an idea to help us raise some money for camp.  We thought it would be good to have a market day.  While we were preparing for it, we decided we would make everything cost one dollar, which then prompted us to call it our Dollar Day Market.  

We started by preparing and planning for our stalls.  We created a Google slide so we could advertise in our school.

We were so amazed at the turn out of our market day and were not expecting so many people to come.  We made an impressive amount of over $1400.00.  Check out some of the pictures below:

For our end of year reflections, we are working on a slide that is a collection of learning we have done.  Each of us have this in our drives and will be using it for sharing to our whānau through Linc Ed and our individual blogs.

Writing With Mystery Doug

Today for Writing, we watched two Mystery Doug clips.  One on leaves changing colour in autumn and one about dragons being real or not.  We got to choose which topic to write about and what type of writing we would do.

We have been working on our understanding of different styles of writing and then having choice about what type to use based on the topic.  

This is our template that we used to start writing.
