Diwali

Celebrating Diwali

Thie week we are celebrating and learning about Diwali.  We viewed this slide below and also watched a video clip about the story of Rama and Sita.  This afternoon, we created slides with either facts or an animation of the story.  This was a way that we could create something to help guide our learning.
We looked at some slides created by past students and also some activities we had from our study of Diwali in 2016.
We have some interesting activities planned for the week.
We have an expert in our class too.  Noah went to the Diwali celebrations in town over the weekend and is very knowledgeable so he ia available to help others with their learning.

Our next step is to share our learning and creations with our whānau and junior school tamariki.

  1. Namaste Te Rōpū Whakamanawa,
Thank you for sharing your learning about Diwali. I have been to the Diwali Festival in Auckland a few years ago and it was AMAZING! I have also been to India but don't know many of their stories or legends - thanks for sharing the link to Rama and Sita's story. It is so good that you have the opportunity to learn about so many other cultures as well as our own. Had any of you had any experience of Diwali before?

  2. Bonjour Te Rōpū Whakamanawa of Ara Tū, my name is Skye from Waikowhai Primary School. I really like how you are celebrating Diwali because it is a special holiday for different cultures. On Tuesday we celebrated it too! One of our teacher aides brought us some food to celebrate Diwali. I now understand more about Diwali. Maybe next time you could put more information in the slide, but overall I thought this post was good. If you would like to check out my blog copy and paste is http://wpsskyep.blogspot.co.nz/

On Tuesday as a whole class we celebrated Diwali. Thanks to our teacher aide we kinda had a little picnic out on the deck. The food was real good and tasty. I really like how colourful your slideshow is, how you explained what Diwali was about and why we should celebrate it. I think you could have added a few more pictures.

  7. Hi my name is Bailey and when I read your post I thought it was really interesting. I loved reading what you had written down on this blog post. I have a friend that celebrates Diwali but when I was reading your blog post I did find a few mistakes in there. The mistakes were at the very first and slightly down the bottom but overall it was enjoyable.
Do you have anyone in your class that celebrates Diwali?
